Valentine's Day Gift Guide for Him!

Wednesday, January 27, 2016
Valentine's Day is right around the corner and sometimes it can be hard shopping for your significant other. You don't have to spend a lot of money on gifts for your guy, unless you want to. But the simple things matter most. Instead of the latest gadgets, buy him a pair of socks or a hoodie for the cold weather. Those things may not be fancy but it's a necessity.  After hearing about Tommy John, a company for men's underwear I knew I had to check it out for myself. I was inspired to create a Valentine's Day gift guide for him, to help you girls find the perfect gift for your love! Don't worry, even if you're single this year that's fine; there are other items you can get for a relative or a friend!

Beauty Hacks using Food!

Monday, January 25, 2016

Who would've thought food wasn't just for eating. Over the past couple of years I have found new ways to use the foods that I eat. If you do not like using products for your skin or your hair, don't worry I got you! If you're into natural ingredients I have a few alternatives for you.

Lemons
This is great way to lighten those darken elbows or underarms. I was kind of shocked when I saw it actually works. If you want to use the lemon as a scrub, just add regular sugar to it. I wouldn't use that as a facial though because regular sugar is hard, so that would probably be painful. If you don't want to use lemons, I hear potatoes are a great substitute!

Eggs
Eggs are protein and it's a good source of nutrients. Not only that but it's great for the skin and hair. You can make a face mask or a hair mask. I don't really know which one is more gross, but they will get the job done!

Bananas
If you prefer not to use eggs, I wouldn't blame you. As a substitute you can use Bananas! I don't know about using them for your hair, but their great for you skin. You can definitely use Bananas for another face mask ingredient! You're will have a soft feeling and look very hydrated.
Cucumbers
If you experience puffy eyes, cucumbers are here to assist you. I hear people saying this really works. Well, this is what I think. While cucumbers do soothe your eyes and minimize the puffiness, it doesn't completely go away. The rest is up to you! You need to get a good nights sleep.

Mayonnaise
I love mayonnaise on my sandwich not my hair. Because of the fat and protein mayo has its good for helping your hair become or stay healthy. It's also know to make your hair shiny.

I hope you found these hacks helpful! If you already use these hacks or have some of your own. let me know.

Things to do During a Snowstorm!

Well I finally received the White Christmas I was looking for. Although it was after Christmas. Around where I live about 24-30 inches was accumulated. That's a lot! It was so dangerous outside so I hope everyone  is safe whether you did or did not get snow. My mom and I shoveled the snow; even though it wasn't really fun. Let's just it was pretty cold outside, but the sun came out. I didn't mind being snowed in, I felt cozy! But if you're someone who doesn't like that, I have a few ideas for you the next you're stuck!

Cook/Bake
Whether you're cooking or baking you can't go wrong. So while it's cold outside and no one can leave, practicing your skills in the kitchen will be so much fun!

Eat
While you're cooking or baking, this is a perfect excuse to eat your favorite comfort foods! My favorites are hot pasta dishes like: ziti or lasagna and pizza.

Binge watch Netflix
I would definitely make use of the time, by watching my favorite shows on Netflix. I'm completely obsessed with it. I've completed a whole season of PLL (pretty little liars) within two days!

Play those good ole board games
I love board games they take me back to my childhood. This will definitely keep the family entertained, especially if you're competitive with each other. My favorites are: Sorry, Guess Who, Trouble, and the list goes on.

Build a Snowman
I tried to build a snowman, but it didn't really work out for me. Honestly, being in the snow is very refreshing. It brings you back to being a kid. If you're not a fan of the snow that's fine. Just go outside and look at how beautiful the scenery is! Even better take some snow and make "snow ice cream"! I haven't tried this before, but if you like the idea go for it.

These are things I like to do during a snowstorm. Actually I do these things when there isn't a storm. Obviously I can't build a snowman though. What are some things you do?

Being An Adult

Saturday, January 23, 2016

School never really prepares you for adulthood. I think that's why people feel stuck after high school. Do I think high school was a waste? No, but if they would have added classes or programs to help assist us for the real world, it would've been helpful. I mean don't get me wrong. I learned how to read, write, and do math; but what about other things like writing a resume or practicing for an interview. To be honest I used being in high school as a security blanket. I relied on school to help me for the real world, but I guess that wasn't suppose to happen. I actually set myself up for a big disappointment. I didn't think being an adult was easy, but I wasn't expecting a struggle.

Everyone goes through different paths in life. We all fight through obstacles, but sometimes I can't help but think about my childhood/teenage years. Everything was pretty much easy, with the exception  of the normal high school drama. I didn't really enjoy high school and it was hard sometimes. I didn't really have the confidence like other people and I felt like I didn't belong. I had a few good friends, but everyone goes their separate ways. I think I rushed my "adulthood", if that makes any sense. I couldn't wait to get out of high school. That feeling clouded my judgement and made me think adulthood was going to be easier.

Well I got a rude awakening. But it was also a learning lesson for me. I don't really look at being an adult as miserable. I've started to look at this adult thing as an opportunity to do all of the things I was afraid when I was a teenager. It's like I'm correcting missed opportunities. Have you ever watched that show Hindsight? Well, I'll give a quick summary. The main character get to go back and relieve moments in her life. She has the chance to correct her past mistakes. Would I want to go back? No, because the opportunities I've had in my life probably wouldn't even exist. I'm not a risk taker so I wasn't really a rebel as a teenager. At 24 years old I'm still a cautious person, but I've taken baby risks. Basically I realized that life is too short. I have to step out of my comfort zone and enjoy life! Although, I am a work in progress I have more confidence in myself than I did at 15 years old. It maybe small to some, but it's a big accomplishment for me. I went from having little confidence to talking to people I've never met before. Adulthood isn't the sunflowers and unicorns I thought, but it will be. I guess the key is patience.

My #1 Favorite Track- Hello by Adele!

Friday, January 22, 2016
When I find a song I like, you better believe it will be play a thousand times! When Adele's "Hello" came out, everyone made a big deal out of it. To be honest I'm not surprised it was a hit! I love listening to her music, because I feel I can relate in some way.  After a couple of weeks I finally got around to listen to the song. It's brilliant! One of the things I like about Adele's music, is the fact that the words in her lyrics speak a truth we all know.

But with this song, I felt a certain way. It made me think. When you first listen to the song and maybe even watching the video, it could mislead you to believe its about a relationship between a man and a women. But according to an interview, it's more than that. The message I got from this song is that, at some point in time we drift away from people we were once close to. But I guess it's normal. Everyone starts to find their own path in life and sometimes it may not included people we thought would be in our lives forever.

If you haven't listened to this song yet, shame on you! I'm only kidding, but you really should. I'm a music lover and I love listening and understanding the lyrics. If you have a few minutes I suggest you pay attention. You will realize how much this song may relate to your life like I did.

Healthy Substitutes!

Thursday, January 21, 2016

A few years ago I started to change what foods I put into my body. You know that saying, "you are what you eat"? I actually believed that, but when I didn't turn into a  donut I knew they were lying! Although I was relieved, I came to the conclusion that there is some truth to the statement. You don't look like the foods you eat, but they do affect the inside and outside of your body. For example, on the outside you may notice acne or you may experience gas inside your body. So we all can start a healthy eating habit, I'm going to share with you some healthy substitutes. There is no right or wrong. I am not an expert nor am I trying to be. These are just new ways to eat meals using substitute foods. Some of these I have tried, but did not like.

Salted and Unsalted Butter
Before I started using unsalted butter, I didn't know it even existed. In fact I didn't even pay attention to the word salted on the package. But after watching Laura in the kitchen I knew unsalted would be healthier way. We all need salt in our bodies, but there is a such thing of too much salt. In a stick of salted butter there is 90mg of sodium. Again I'm not an expert/nutritionist, this is just what I know. A lot of people use salt in their meals and if you decide to use butter, choose the unsalted. You will have more control in how you can put in. An I making sense?

Vegetable Oil and Olive Oil
Vegetable oil is heavier than olive oil. You can still cook the same foods. I still use vegetable oil, but only in selective dishes. For example, olive oil burns easily so you might need to use vegetable oil. Sometimes olive oil can be too strong in a dish, if so I would then use vegetable oil. But there are other alternatives like: canola  oil.

Ground Beef and Ground Turkey
I am not a fan of ground turkey, but I've gotten use to it. I haven't cut out ground beef, but I don't eat it as often because of the ground turkey. In stead of eating a regular hamburger, try a turkey burger. I've tried it and I'm not as grossed out by it. Although I don't plan on eating again anytime soon. However, I do like ground turkey in pasta. Only because you can't really tell the difference with the pasta sauce and some extra seasoning.

Regular Pasta and Wheat Pasta
I've tried, test, and I don't like wheat pasta. It's not that great what's so ever. It has this nutty bite to it and that's not appealing. So I will be sticking to my regular pasta and my regular carbs!

White Bread and Wheat Bread
I have tried both breads and I may alternate. But I don't think wheat bread is any different or at least that's what I've read. While eating wheat bread I feel healthier. But who know which is the better option.

I hope you found this helpful and let me know what substitutes/ alternatives you have!

Finding the Right Face Moisturizer!

Tuesday, January 19, 2016
It can be pretty overwhelming trying to find the right moisturizer for your face. There are hundreds of moisturizers and you don't know which to choose from. I mean it feels like you're in maze and can't get out. Finding a moisturizer is not easy, you have to find what works best for you and your skin. I am not an expert, but I can share with you an article that will be able to answer your questions. But before I direct you to the article, I want to explain why I found this most helpful. You will find 8 tried and tested products. You will read the steps taken to find the right moisturizers, which is what I find most helpful. What works for someone might not work for everyone, but that is why there is more than one option to help you decide! I learned a lot from this article. Who would've thought" Humectants are important ingredients that make those lotions and creams more effective by actually helping to hold water in your skin". Hopefully after reading the article I share with you, you'll find it helpful and super easy to get a moisturizer that matches with you.

Overall, I recommend anyone who loves beauty products as much as I do to read this! Here is the article link for more details and information: The Best Face Moisturizer

3 Skin Care Products You Should Try!

Saturday, January 16, 2016
I am not the best when it comes to having a skin care routine. But I do love trying out different products and seeing what works for me. Most of the time, before I try out a product I always by the travel size bottle first. Usually these bottles are between a 1 to 3 dollars. I like buying the travel size first; because if I didn't like it, the money I spent wasn't a complete waste. I brought these products at Shoprite for under $5. Now I know what you're thinking, but Shoprite has a massive beauty section and a lot of the time the prices are affordable! The products I am sharing with are three of my favorites. I think you will love them too, after reading what I think about them.

Olay Body Wash
I've become a big fan of body wash. My skin feels nice and has a nice glow to it. The Olay body wash has an ultra moisture that penetrates the surface of the skin's layer. This body wash contains Shea butter, known to be great for soft skin! I like how my skin doesn't look dry and cracked. I tend to have dry skin during the summer and winter. So this body wash is very helpful. I also use suave body washes, but I will share them with you on another day!

Jergens Moisturizer
During the winter my face tends to get dry, especially around my nose. So Jergens' moisturizer lotion is the best solution for that. This is an ultra healing lotion that, nourishes and heals extra dry skin. After using this your skin will feel and look more healthier. This includes vitamins C, E, and B5. This is a great combination. Vitamin C helps restore and repair the tissues in your body, Vitamin E is great for healthier skin, and Vitamin B5 is to help your skin look youthful/ healthier. This really helps my skin. I am definitely buying the full size, because my skin feels very moisturized and rejuvenated.

St. Ives Facial Scrub
I love facial scrubs; My face always feels refreshed and hydrated. This fresh skin Apricot scrub deeply cleanses and exfoliates leaving your skin feeling smooth. One of the best things about this product, is the fact that it's sulfate free. Sulfates are harsh. For example, I do not use sulfate shampoo because it strips the hair of its natural oils. I can only assume that sulfate in products for the skin, leave you with dull and dry looking skin. This also oil free and contains 100% natural exfoliants, which sounds great to me. I really like this product, although it comes second to the clean & clear morning burst facial scrub!

I hope you enjoyed reading, What are some of your favorite skincare products?

Happy New Year!

Saturday, January 9, 2016

A lot happened to me during the last few months of last year. I moved, I didn't blog, I was feeling down about myself, and I got a job. Even though I uploaded blog posts, it wasn't my usual ones. For some reason I just didn't feel like blogging or had the passion to. At first I didn't know why, but then I figured it out; I wasn't completely being myself. This blog is 100% me, but I pick and choose want I want to talk about. Although I will not talk about certain things like family, I will start to be more open. Sometimes I'm worried that I may not be cool like other bloggers. But I've decided that it's time to stop worrying and just have fun with blogging. So starting now that is what I intend to do. I don't just want to limit my blog; I want to expand.

Soon I will be going into my 4th year of blogging and it seems like just yesterday I started. Although, I still have months to go till then. I want who ever reads my blog to feel like their talking to a friend. I want people to feel comfortable reading my blog. I don't want this to feel forced. I honestly love blogging and I could blog everyday. But sometimes not knowing whether someone would read my blog, has held me back. As of now that is going to change. I won't know until I try, right? I guess you can I'm taking my blog to the next level. I am not the most organized blogger, but it works for me. I've had a lot of great opportunities happen for me last year. I am so grateful.

I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. If you're a dreamer like me, this is your year to be great and to do what makes you happy!
