Cantu Shea Butter: Moisturizing curl activator cream!

Wednesday, January 28, 2015
If you knew me, you would know that I am a little skeptic about change. But when I saw this at Walmart I really wanted to try this product. My hair products are all the same. I use products only from Cantu: Shea Butter and Shea moisture. I have been natural for almost a year and in my opinion I made the right choice for me and my hair. If you want to know about this product keep reading!

The Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair, Moisturizing curl activator cream is amazing. It produces frizz free, smooth, and bouncy curls. This creates more volume to your hair and adds shine. The best part about this product is that it's sulfate-free and does not include parabens or mineral oil. I have not used sulfate products in almost 2 years. Sulfate is horrible and it strips your hair of its natural oils. The moisturizing curl cream definitely moisturizes your hair, which is awesome. Everyone needs moisture for their hair, but it's a very important essential for a natural/ curly hair girl.

I love how this defines my curls so much and it rehydrates my hair so my curls can come back to life! This is for natural hair like; curly, kinky, and wavy hair. The only thing I do not enjoy is the flakiness it leaves on my hair. I am trying to figure out if I'm doing something wrong. Maybe I should just let my hair air dry. I use the diffuser sometimes and maybe that causes the flakes. But overall this product is a great and I would recommend it to natural girls!

5 Blogging Tips!

Tuesday, January 27, 2015
I have 5 important tips to share with you about blogging. I have read a lot of posts talking about blogging tips, don't get me wrong they are very helpful. I am so grateful that bloggers are nice enough to do these kinds of post. But sometimes I felt like it didn't work for me. You know the saying, "What may work for you may not for me"? Then I realized that everyone is different.

1. Be you
- Don't be someone else just to fit in! You're perfect just the way you are.

2. Be different
- Being different is good. If everyone was the same that would be very boring. Everyone stands out, because their different and unique. That's why I love reading blogs and seeing the bloggers design it shows who you are or what you like!

3. Stay positive
- Things don't happen overnight. I learned that the hard way. Things will happen for you just be patient and keep working hard."Hard work pays off". Just believe in yourself and don't ever doubt your ability to be great!

4. Do what's right for you
- Make your decisions yourself. Like myself I love advice and suggestions. But I don't want someone trying to control my blog, because they may not like how it looks. You know the direction you want your blog to go, do what's best for you!

5. Have fun
- In my opinion, whether blogging is your hobby or something you take seriously it can be an adventure! You as well as your blog go through lots of changes. So it's an adventure that your readers and yourself can experience it together! Remember this is your blog have fun and enjoy it.

I hope you have enjoyed reading! What tips do you have?

Blog Changes!

Sunday, January 25, 2015
Over the past few weeks I've been making changes to my blog! Like the design of my blog, I decided that I wanted my blog to change. Before I did not know anything about revamping my blog. I did not understand coding or html and I had no idea what design I wanted. I loved my previous design, but I decided that I wanted a new look. I am surprised I could do this, because I really didn't have a lot of experience. I love this design so much! I think it's here to stay! The second thing is my blog name/ title. Life of a Jerseygirl is something I will cherish forever, but I needed something new. When I first started blogging I had no idea what I was doing, I guess that's why I am in this situation! As I am 2 years older, for me Life of a Jerseygirl means that I am sharing my life as a Jerseygirl. There are a lot of Jersey girls out there and I feel now I would not stand out. Plus I feel like the Life of a Jerseygirl sounds like I am showing what life is like as a Jerseygirl. I am still a Jerseygirl, but I want to share the things that I love as me, Ashley! I know a few bloggers with the name Ashley, that is why I am using my middle as well. With that being said, my new blog name/title is Ashley Olivia! Like I said I'm still a Jerseygirl and that hasn't changed, just my blog title! I wanted to also change my url, but I have not decided that yet. But I don't think I will. Sorry for dragging this post out. I just thought I would share with you!

My 5 essentials for being productive in 2015!

Monday, January 19, 2015
Hi guys! In this post I'm talking about my 5 essentials for being productive. I think this came at a perfect time because I made some goals for myself this year. Before I share them with you, I am going to tell you a little bit about Kabbage. Their an online  provider of small business loans. They are a great place to turn to if you're looking to start a business and/ or looking to keep your business on the right track! Be sure to check out their "4 ways small business owners can boost their productivity" here: Community page.

So here is my list of 5 essentials that keep me productive!

1. Goals
- Make goals for yourself. Whether it's daily, weekly, monthly. and even yearly goals. In my opinion goals are important, because they help you reach things you want to accomplish. I have a lot of goals I want to accomplish, and I feel like I already started to.

2. Staying Organized
- Plan a to- do list. Making a list of things you want to achieve throughout the day or the week are a great idea. A to- do list keeps you on the right track of staying organized. I will admit that procrastination was one of my obstacles in the past. I actually worked good under pressure. But I realized that if, I wanted to accomplish my goals and get to where I wanted to be in life I would have to stop procrastinating. Even though I worked good under pressure, it left me feeling stressed and that is not a good feeling. Staying organized and knowing what I want to get done during the day has helped me a lot. It keeps me focused and grounded!
- Keep a journal/ notebook. The brain is a powerful thing, but we are not able to remember everything. That is why keeping a journal or a notebook is great idea. You can put all of the things you want to do and have to do. So if you forget, you can easily go back to the book and remember! You do not have to invest in an expensive notebook, unless you're fancy that way! They range anywhere from $1 to $10. Just think of it this way, your journal/ notebook is an organizer for your thoughts!

3. Time Management
-Distribute your time wisely. Especially on social media, it's easy to get off track because social media can be addicting. Instead of being on social media for hours, here's what I do. I go on in the morning, the afternoon, and the evening. I try to stay on for about 30 minutes, unless it's a bloggers chat which lasts for an hour! I will admit that on the weekend I get a little carried away. But hey who doesn't. As long as you use your time wisely, you shouldn't feel like you wasted a day. Keeping a journal will also help you organize your time!

4. Staying Positive
- At some point in time everyone has doubted themselves. Honestly I am guilty of it, I don't give my self enough credit. In the past I have given up to easily, but for almost 3 years blogging is something that I've kept going! Not to sound cheesy, but I feel like this is my year. Actually it's every ones year to achieve their dreams and become successful!

5. Making time for yourself
- It's very important to make time for yourself. Everyone needs to take the time and relax. Relaxing helps you to reenergize and get focused again. Having your own me time is what everyone deserves. Whether it's for 30 minutes, an hour or 2. I like to read magazines in my me time. People and Us magazine are my favorites! I also like to listen to music and practice sketching clothes.
Here is a list of things you could do:
- Exercise
- Read
- Write
- Shop
- Indulging in your favorite food
- Listen to music
- Bake
- Treat yourself to a spa day. Better yet create your own spa day, in my opinion it's more fun!

I really enjoyed writing this post and I hope you have enjoyed reading!

Inspire!

Sunday, January 18, 2015

Picture via Google Images

When I first started blogging I stated that, "if I could inspire at least one person, I would have completed one of my goals"! That remains true. I also said that I will be posting my interests and the things I like. But I will also post inspirational messages. I have done that, but not as much. So I decided that I'm going to write more inspirational posts, besides my regular ones. I will try to do these posts regular, I mean who wouldn't want a little motivational message everyday!

The quote pictured above is the perfect way to start this off! Everyone doubts their ability to achieve goals once in awhile. But I want everyone to know that, if you keep striving for your goals and dreams they will happen for you. I learned that things don't happen overnight, but they will happen. Hard work truly does pay off. I hope this post was helpful to you!

NYC eyeliners

Saturday, January 17, 2015
I am obsessed with eyeliners, their my go to look. These are my NYC eyeliners, I got from Walmart. They were only about a $1.50, which I think is really good. The two smaller eyeliners are waterproof, which is a big plus for me. This will definitely help to assure that eyeliner stays on for a long time.  The blue eyeliner I wanted because I lost my other one from my color theory collection. The other colors were really pretty so I was pretty excited about having them.

  • This Teal color is so pretty. The picture does not do this justice! In person the Teal looks more like a Green color . It has a shimmer to it and I think it would go perfect with my envy and mermaid eye shadows I talked about awhile ago. Here's the link: Makeup Geek shadows
  • The Smokey Plum is like a deep purple color and I think it would go great with a dark smoked eye look.
  • This last eyeliner is In the Navy. It is the perfect pop of color that would go great with a smoked look and even a neutral look.
These eyeliners are great quality at a good price and they stay on for a long time! I'm pretty sure you can find them at other places like: CVS and Target.

In another post coming soon, I'm going to talk about my Hard Candy: Metal eyeliner collection I got for Christmas!

I hope you enjoyed reading! Are you obsessed with eyeliners too?

Makeup Remover

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

The only makeup remover I have used is the Neutrogena Oil- Free eye makeup remover. But when I tried this Estee Lauder gentle eye makeup remover, I was impressed. My mom does not wear eye shadow, so she gave me her Estee Lauder makeup case. This was one of the first things that caught my attention. Since I was running out of my Neutrogena remover, I needed another one in the mean time. Luckily for me it was included in the case. It works for all skin types and it feels really soft. It is very gentle and in my opinion it's not sticky or greasy at all! Estee's makeup remover does not irritate your eyes and it works good.

8 Best Looks from the Golden Globes!

Monday, January 12, 2015
One of the best things about these events are the Red Carpet! Seeing everyone dressed and glammed up is very interesting. What someone wears describes their personality and gives you a little insight of who they are. So I was excited to see all of the actors and actresses step out of their TV/Movie roles. So here are my 8 favorite looks from the Golden Globes.

I think all of these ladies look gorgeous. Their dresses definitely make a statement. In my opinion they all share something in common. Their makeup is very simple and that stands out. It gives that balance needed. To me the gown/ dress is most important, so you don't want it to be overpowered by the makeup look!

Jamaican Black Castor Oil: Strengthen, Grow & Restore Edge Treatment

Tuesday, January 6, 2015
YAY! This is my 100th post and what better way to celebrate that, by talking about this product that is great to use!

This styling gel provides nourishment to the edges, while holding them in place. What's great about this product is that it blocks humidity, which keeps it frizz free! I am sure we all have problems with frizzy hair. If you don't you are very lucky. This would still be a great product to use for your edges. It will help them grow and keep away flyways, giving you a sleek look! One of the most important things about this, is that it's very versatile! This works on Natural hair, Chemically Processed hair, Color Treated hair, and Heat Styled hair! So basically we can all benefit from this.

This is from the Shea Moisture line! Moist of my hair products are from Shea Moisture. I am not affiliated with them in any way, I just really like using this brand for my natural hair. It's Sulfate free and Color safe. Which is a plus for me, because I do not use Sulfate products anymore.

Organic Shea Butter
- Deeply moisturizes while conditioning the hair and the scalp.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil
- Loaded with reparative omegas that promote healthy hair growth.

Peppermint
- Stimulates the scalp for an invigorating experience.

I recommend checking out this product for yourself. If you want to it can be found at Walmart!

I hope you have enjoyed reading!
